Your participation makes a difference. Here’s how you can help:

  • DO NOT answer questions about your immigration status.
  • You can say:
    “I wish to remain silent, I wish to speak with a lawyer.
    (Quiero mantenerme en silencio, quiero hablar con un abogado).
  • Ask to speak with a lawyer before signing any document.
  • You can say:
    “I will not sign any document I do not understand, I wish to speak with a lawyer”
    (No firmaré ningún documento que no entienda, Quiero hablar con un abogado).
  • If an officer says to divide into groups, do not do it.
  • You can say:
    “I will not participate in any activity”
    (No participaré en ninguna actividad).
  • If it is safe, write down names, license plate numbers, or details of the event and record or take photos.

No one can enter a private place, like your home, without a judicial warrant.

  • DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR.
  • You have the right to demand that they show you the judicial warrant.
  • If they show you the warrant, make sure it is signed by a judge, states your address, and has a current date.
