Help welcome our neighbors during this humanitarian crisis

Your support to our Tanda Program helps provide direct financial assistance for undocumented-led households, and families whose loved one has been detained by ICE. Many of these families suddenly lose income or stability and rely on this support to ensure their children and elders continue to have their most basic needs met.
The assistance is distributed primarily to cover grocery expenses. Assistance is provided in the form of gift cards for local grocery stores and/or Visa gift cards for purchase of other critical, non-grocery items such as prescription medications and transportation.
Mano a Mano partners with local immigrant-owned grocers to develop gift card systems for their stores. Mano a Mano purchases the cards from these businesses and then distributes them to community members screened and approved for the assistance. This approach allows families to maintain dignity and choice in purchasing culturally relevant food and other needed items.
100% of donations made to the Tanda Program directly support community members who are facing extreme choices in trying to cover their family’s basic needs.
The funds are limited to undocumented immigrants who live in Lake and McHenry Counties and who are not eligible for other government benefits, including families suddenly impacted by detention-related income loss.
